Data Center Inventory Management
Data Center Inventory Management Set Up
The key to generating meaningful and accurate reports is up-to-date IT asset as part of your data center inventory management. For a data center inventory management tool to be effective, (similar to an accounting system) all existing IT assets must be accurately accounted for and then every change to the system from that point in time must be efficiently recorded into the system. To increase efficiency of the data center inventory management process, ISA has developed its own data collection solution named On Site Physical Inventory® (OSPI®) data center inventory software, which allows rapid and accurate collection of data (device specification, precise location, connectivity, power status, etc.) with real-time validation of the data entered.
The accurate and efficient collection of this key data (data center inventory management) enables the data center management software to generate accurate reports and provides clients with considerable potential benefits from efficient use of capital, stock control, maintenance and reduction in energy costs, as well as compliance with financial control standards required under the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation.
Data Center Inventory Management and Ongoing Maintenance
Once the initial data center inventory management process is completed, all future MACs (Moves Adds and Changes) must be accounted for quickly and accurately. This is another key benefit of the OSPI® Data Center Inventory Software
Data Center Inventory Management Software
As changes to equipment or connectivity are made simply record these changes into the OPSI® data center inventory management software. This process enables the data center facilitator to keep the software system up-to-date with accurate information, thus maintaining the accuracy and value of future reports.
